Hashim Amla’s 20th: Century Making Serenity

There is a two Test match series (if two counts as a series!) going on in the Middle East between Pakistan and South Africa. Pakistan are doing rather well having dismissed South Africa for 249.

Had it not been for Hashim Amla (118), things could have been much worse. In our eyes Amla¬† is not only the finest beard in cricket but the only batsmen in the world to reach enlightenment. His batting should be used in a guided meditation course. This century brought up his 20th and the speed with which he’s got there is staggering.

Alternative Cricket did some quick research on the number of Tests to reach 20 centuries…

Bradman: 35 Tests
Gavaskar: 50
Hayden: 55
Sobers: 69
Tendulkar: 69
HASHIM AMLA: 71

In the past 3 years Amla has been nothing short of a century making machine. Since January 2010, Amla is averaging 72.08. He has scored 3316 runs and made 13 centuries in the space of only 32 Test matches. Amla, at the age of 30, will no doubt be on the list of all time century makers in Tests, you just wish South Africa played more matches.
