ICC World Player Rankings

A few days ago myself and Blaise launched our world cricket tv channel on youtube. The inspiration for the first installment was part crappy ICC test player rankings and part fun fantasising about the world cricket dream test team 2009.

As you can see from the rankings they don’t exactly stack up.

Here’s the top 20 test batsman and test bowlers in the world as they stand. Whilst the batsman don’t closely represent our world dream XIs they could conceivably be up there in the world.

The bowler rankings are way off the mark.

ICC World Bowler Rankings

How can Jerome Taylor (despite some his recent destruction of England) be world number 7?

How can Paul Harris find himself at number 8?

And Ryan Sidebottom at number 10?

Who would you put in your ultimate bowling line-up?

  1. Billy says

my all time bowling attack would go:

    1.Wasim Akram/Imran Khan
    2.Richard Hadlee
    3.Glen Mcgrath/Dennis Lillie
    4.Shane Warne
    5.Murali

this attack is not accounting for allrounders as Garry Sobers would have to be included

  2. says

My all-time bowling attack would have:

    Andy Roberts/Malcolm Marshall/Frank Tyson – raw pace
Wasim Akram/Zaheer Khan – swing ‘em in, swing ‘em away, swing ‘em OUT! (can bat too)
    Glenn McGrath – unerring accuracy
    Shane Warne – no question!
Daniel Vettori – second spinner / Ishant Sharma – gonnabe legend.
