Would you Pick Gough and Cork for your IPL Side?

0 Comments 30 January 2009

The second IPL auction is set to take place in Goa on February 6 and for the first time England players will feature. However the IPL have sprung some hefty surprises by including some England veterans – Darren Gough 38, Dominic Cork , 37 and Shaun Udal, 39. Out of the three veterans only Gough could realistically consider himself to be an England great. If his career wasn’t so badly hit by injury he surely would have been considered as such.

An IPL pay packet would be one hell of a pension for these old farts . . .

At best Gough would be 50-50 to go under the hammer. But for the likes of Udal and Cork, surely their pipe dream of a final pay packet is just that?

England Players in the Auction:

Ravi Bopara, Monty Panesar, Robert Key, James Foster, Sajid Mahmood, Matt Prior, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Owais Shah, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Luke Wright, Kevin Pietersen, Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison, James Anderson and Ed Joyce

England Veterans Thrown into the Mix:

Darren Gough, Dominic Cork, Shaun Udal

My England Bargain:

Luke Wright

The Twenty20 tournament runs from April 10 to May 29.
